Slovakia fell 0:1 at home to Portugal in the fifth qualifying match. However, the game did not have to be finished by the visiting star Cristiano Ronaldo, who made a nasty tackle on Martin Dúbravka and had the referee to thank for the yellow card.

The European qualifiers are halfway through and Slovakia have challenged a strong Portugal at home. They resisted in the match, but eventually lost 0:1 and are now in second place just a score ahead of Luxembourg.

The Slovak fan can be quite satisfied with the performance this time, the Portuguese fan probably expected more. And especially from Cristiano Ronaldo, who only plays in Europe when he is in the national team jersey.

It was Ronaldo who provided one negative moment after an hour of the match. The experienced Portuguese failed to reach the ball and tried to clear it with a slip, but at the same moment goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka also intervened.

He was aware beforehand that the intervention would hurt him a lot. Ronaldo went forward with the pins and hit the Slovak goalkeeper indiscriminately. He writhed in pain for some time afterwards.

The Slovaks immediately ran to Ronaldo, indicating to the referee that he should draw a red card. The tackle was on the edge, but the referee eventually decided to card him yellow.

The situation was also examined by VAR, but in the end both teams continued with eleven players. However, this too means that Ronaldo will miss the subsequent qualifying match.

He saw a yellow card against both Iceland and Luxembourg and will not play the home rematch with Luxembourg specifically. So he can rest up before returning to Saudi Arabia.
