Surprise sale? Kuchta could reportedly leave Sparta Prague
Jan Kucha became one of the heroes who led Sparta Prague to the title last season. It was not surprising that the club bought him permanently after a year on loan. Now, however, there is talk that the Czech striker could be sold abroad.
Jan Kuchta became one of the heroes who led Sparta Prague to the title last season. It was not surprising that the club bought him permanently after a year on loan. Now, however, there is talk that the Czech striker could be sold abroad.
Sparta brought him on loan from Lokomotiv Moscow last summer. That alone cost them €1 million. As soon as it won the title, it announced that Jan Kuchta was moving to Letná permanently. She was to pay the Russian club 2.5 million euros.
The 26-year-old striker was one of the driving forces in the title quest. He played 35 games across all competitions last season with a record of 16 goals and 7 assists. He formed a striking duo with Tomas Čvačara and was expected to be a key player next season.
But even though Kuchta has decent numbers this season, scoring 3 goals and adding 1 assist in 7 games, he’s not performing well. The footballer with national team experience was even missing from the starting lineup at Dinamo Zagreb.
Coach Brian Priske announced at the beginning of the season that he was not going to build players on the merits of last season and that he was starting from scratch. At the press conference after the loss in Croatia, he said that the players who played were 100% ready.
Then on Friday night, the server InFotbal came up with the information that Kuchta could leave Sparta later in the summer. He could imitate Adam Gabriel, who left a few days ago for Danish Midtjylland.
“Midtjylland is dealing with him. He is even slightly optimistic that he can reach an agreement with Sparta,” InFotbal quotes its sources.
If the transfer does happen, Sparta cannot be expected to make much money from it. Midtjylland are not one of the clubs that would spend big money for a player. The record transfer in the history of the Danish club is a €5 million purchase.
According to Transfermarkt, among others, Sparta is bidding for striker Samuel Adeniran from American team St. Louis City, which is first in its conference in MLS. The 24-year-old American has 20 games, 9 goals and 2 assists this season.
