He was on a rampage in Italy at one point, but after his transfer to Spain Jakub Jankt’s form started to decline. In the summer he took up an offer from Sparta, but even there it wasn’t quite the same. Now he should have a clear idea of where his next steps will lead.

When he left Slavia Prague in 2014 and headed to Italy, many didn’t understand. In the Czech Republic, the more popular model is to prove yourself at home and then go abroad. However, Jankto has shown that this path can also be the right one.

He put in good performances on loan at Ascoli and continued to do so at Udinese. After two seasons, however, he fell out with the club’s management and headed to Sampdoria, where he later picked up his performances again.

However, in the summer of 2021 he made a transfer to Getafe, and that was not a good choice. He played 14 league games in Spain, didn’t score a goal, and in the summer he was looking at where to go to get his form back. He eventually chose Sparta, but even there he didn’t give the performance many expected of him.

He played 15 league games there, scoring one goal, but the spring affair ended his season prematurely. Sparta did not exercise the option and Jankto returned to Getafe. However, he will not stay there.

There was speculation about offers from Sampdoria and Cagliari, with the latter set to agree terms with the Czech footballer. The information was reported by Sky Sports Italia.

Jankto is expected to sign a two-year contract with an option for another year at the Serie A newcomer, during which time he should earn a total of around €1 million, the reason for his arrival is said to be coach Claudio Ranieri, with whom he is acquainted from their joint engagement at Sampdoria.

With his new team, he should be able to make the start of the preparation. Cagliari’s first game is not until 21 July, when they play Albia in the third league. By that time the Czech top league will have already started.
