Much has been written about the future of Vladimír Coufal in recent weeks. And it looks like the 30-year-old defender’s days at West Ham are numbered. The question is where the Czech international’s next steps will lead. According to Sky Sports, Coufal is closest to a move to German side Leverkusen. And this is confirmed by the fact that another potential signing, Cédric Soares, is closer to a move to Fulham.
Vladimir Coufal transferred to West Ham London from Slavia Prague in October 2020 for around six million euros. So far, he has played 87 games for the Kladivars, in which he has recorded twelve assists.
Since his arrival in London, he has become a favourite of West Ham fans, mainly due to his combativeness and dedication to the team. However, in recent months, the experienced defender’s performances have seen a decline.
And this has resulted in him losing his place in the starting line-up. Coach David Moyes would like to bring in a better quality and younger replacement for the former Slavia Prague defender. And he is determined to sell Coufal in the winter transfer window to free up money for the arrival of new reinforcements.
But the Ludgerovice native need not be sad because he has no shortage of takers. According to Sky Sports, two unnamed clubs from England and Germany’s Leverkusen are interested in Coufal.
The employer of Patrik Schick and Adam Hložek is looking for a right-back and the Czech defender should be the one.
Arsenal defender Cédric Soares is also on the list, but he prefers to stay in the British Isles.
The Portuguese defender is wanted by London Fulham, who were interested in the summer. Cédric has only started two games for Arsenal this season. In the charged competition of the Gunners, his position in north London cannot be expected to change.
The Portuguese’s agent Kia Joorabchian has a very good relationship with Fulham’s management. He arranged the transfer of Brazilian midfielder Willian to Craven Cottage back in the summer. And Cédric himself prefers to stay in London.
