In Sunday’s showpiece, Tottenham and Liverpool played at home. The away favourite was the winner, thanks to two goals from Salah, celebrating a slim 2-1 victory. Spurs, however, were not far from the equalizer, in the end, they had a big scramble in front of the Reds’ goal.
After the losses to Nottingham and Leeds, Liverpool wanted to win in order to close in on the top spot, which is still quite far from them.
It was the home side Spurs who were holding on to third place thanks to a good start and didn’t want to leave it. However, Mohamed Salah decided their fall to fourth place.
The Egyptian winger first asserted himself in the 11th minute, increasing to 2: 0 five minutes before the end of the first half. But Spurs did not give up and planned to equalise.
In the 70th minute, Harry Kane, who is second in the scorers’ table with eleven goals, scored the first hope after Dejan Kulusevski’s assist.
However, the home fans did not see another goal. The biggest pressure on their hearts came at the very end. After a centre from the left, three of their players came close to equalising.
Despite their best efforts, Tottenham couldn’t get the ball into the net and eventually had to bow to Liverpool. Thanks to the win, Tottenham moved up to eighth place, just two points behind Chelsea.
