Well, that was a comeback! Deontay Wilder made his return to the boxing ring, finishing his Finnish opponent after less than three minutes with a crazy straight right.

Wilder showed up in the ring again

Deontay Wilder didn’t need long to get back on a winning streak. Sunday morning Central European Time belonged to the American boxer. The Barclays Center in Brooklyn hosted another gala evening of boxing.

The Bronze Bomber, as Wilder calls himself, has faced a cruel fate in his storied career. Although he already had 42 professional victories to his credit, he lived in the era of Tyson Fury. With him, he was part of a boxing trilogy, from which he took one draw and two losses.

In the fight, he dealt the Finnish giant a crushing KO in the first round

Those three fights mark the only setbacks in the American slugger’s career. He proved his greatness in his clash with Robert Helenius on Sunday. “Nordic Nightmare” (31-4) faced the former WBC heavyweight champion of the world in an eliminator, but didn’t stay in the ring for long.

At the end of the first round, the Finn cornered his opponent but failed to guard his defense on offense. Wilder unleashed an incredible right hand on the counter, sending the Finnish giant into dreamland. There was nothing to talk about here, the fight was over at 2:57 of the first round.

After the fight, he challenged Usyk or Andy Ruiz

After winning the fight, the question of his next opponent came up. “I heard rumors about Usyk, but he’s not here,” he said in the ring according to Sportsdaily. “Whether it’s Andy Ruiz or Usyk, let’s do it,” he challenged both fighters.

“But when the boys see my knockouts, they’d rather turn the corner in front of me,” the former world champion joked. “Deontay is back and so is the excitement in the heavyweight division, ” he shouted into the microphone. We’ll see how Tyson Fury’s return from boxing retirement will affect the situation.

There has long been talk of a unification battle for all the heavyweight belts. This would mean that next year we will see a unification battle between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk. That would leave Mexican slugger Andy Ruiz Jr. to take on Deontay Wilder for now.
