West Ham had an important game on Monday night. They welcomed Bournemouth to their sanctuary called the London Stadium, hoping and believing that with a win they would leapfrog the southern English side. This they did, however the Hammers controversially came away with three points.

West Ham’s start to the new season has not gone well. Since the beginning of October, however, it has been able to manage matches a little better than it did before. After all, he has scored 10 of his 14 points so far this month.

The London team with Tomas Soucek in the starting line-up also scored three points on Monday, when they managed to beat Bournemouth, who, among other things, were leapfrogged in the table. But more than the result, the controversies that occurred in the match are being addressed.

The Hammers gave a concentrated performance, outplaying their opponents most of the time. However, it was helped a lot by a goal in the dressing room by the infamous Kurt Zouma after an assist from Soucek.

This goal is the most talked about. After a corner kick, Timo Kehrer clearly played his hand before the ball reached Soucek or Zouma. The referee examined the situation on video, but still conceded the goal.

That broke Bournemouth somewhat. They pressed late in the game and tried to equalize, but it didn’t happen and the final nail in the coffin was hammered in by Saïd Benrahma’s penalty goal, who adjusted the score to 2:0 at the end of the second half.

It was West Ham’s first goal, however, that the visitors’ coach Gary O’Neil spoke loudly about. “There was a foul and a clear hand at the breakdown. Kehrer’s hands were moving towards the ball and clearly changed its flight path. This goal should not stand, for me it is impossible,” Sky Sports quotes him as saying.

O’Neil, however, is not surprised. He pointed out that since he has been in charge of the team, his charges have faced 10 video inspections and it has always gone against Bournemouth.
