According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur are in talks over a possible sponsorship deal with Google. The deal could see the stadium renamed The Google Stadium. How much money could Spurs make from the deal?
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has long been interested in gaining a possible sponsor for the name of the new 62,850-seater stadium, which cost around £1bn and opened three years ago.
And now the situation looks promising. According to English media (DailyMail or The Sun), representatives of the English outfit are negotiating a deal with the well-known Google.
In addition to football matches, the stadium has already hosted music concerts and big boxing duels, such as the fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua. This also makes it a very interesting and attractive address for a future partner.
Tottenham’s coach Antonio Conte himself has made it clear that his team would need further investment to compete with the leading teams to win the dream title. The club chairman, in turn, said that if the right brand with the right price comes in, the fans will see the signing of the deal.
And that is exactly what could come true if a deal can be negotiated with Google. The exact amount Tottenham would receive is hard to estimate, but it would certainly not be a negligible sum of money. After all, Barcelona received around £78 million per year for selling the rights to the name of their stadium to Spotify.
Tottenham is one of the last of the big teams in the English competition who still do not have an official partner in the name of the stadium. However, we will have to wait and see whether they will be able to sign a deal with the famous Google.
