That Cristiano Ronaldo will probably never be forgotten in the world of football and beyond is clear now that his career is coming to an end. But the years are catching up with the Portuguese striker too, and he will soon have to end his professional career. It makes all the more sense to remember his first steps towards glory.

Ronaldo scored his first goal in senior football with this solo effort for Sporting.

Speed, concentration and great technique. Thanks to this, the Portuguese striker has scored over 800 goals to date, surpassing the legendary Josef Bican in the FIFA rankings.

Today, the 37-year-old native of Funchal has many great trophies in his cabinet, both individually and collectively. However, with Sporting, where he started his professional career, he only won the Super Cup winner’s trophy in 2002.

Ronaldo was shortly afterwards picked up by Sir Alex Ferguson and brought to Manchester United, where he also won his first Ballon d’Or in 2008, adding 4 more to his collection afterwards.

Currently, Ronaldo has been back at Old Trafford for over a year now, after a relatively successful last season in which he scored 24 goals, he is now more of a bench warmer, coming into games mostly during the game.

So far this season he has played in 8 games and only once in the Europa League, where he scored one goal in the victory over FC Sheriff.

However, Ronaldo’s mind is already on the upcoming World Cup in Qatar, where he will definitely want to shine. Portugal have a great team, but will the star striker be of any use or not?
