So Wirtz is not expected to start the season, which could be a big plus for Hložek, who is preparing for his debut abroad. The Pulheim native is a great talent in German football and has been indispensable for Leverkusen for virtually the entire season.

Schick in particular has benefited enormously from his work, scoring 24 goals in 27 games last season and assisting 5 more. The Czech striker has also been struggling with an injury this year, which has halted his breakout season.

So Wirtz’s return is certainly eagerly awaited by the 26-year-old cannonballer. But it could mean the exact opposite for Hložek, who will see less time on the field again. That being said, he could get a lot of it, at least at the beginning of the season, and it will be up to him how he can use it.

the 176 cm tall midfielder has signed a contract with Bayer until 2027. Already, according to Transfermarkt, his value is €70 million and if he performs as well as he did last season when he returns, he will surely grow even more.

Wirtz has also already made 4 national team starts, in which he scored two assists. However, he is still waiting for his start in the starting lineup and against a more famous opponent. The selections of Liechtenstein, Armenia, Iceland and North Macedonia have not yet tested his skills sufficiently.
