Viktor Peshta quits the PFL
Recently we informed you that Viktor Peshta is quitting the American PFL and the dream of winning one million dollars dissolved before it gained real contours.
After falling to Russian Akhmedov in 85 seconds at the end of April, he took the field for another game less than two months later. In this bout with Australian Wilkinson, too, he didn’t last the first round and after a volley of punches the referee stopped the fight.
After the fight, of course, there were responses in the media and fan discussions about whether it was reasonable to fight in such a short period of time after such a knockout. Peshta himself responded that he was aware of the risk, but it was his own decision.
In addition to the media and fans, Ondrej Novotny also commented on Pešta’s situation
Ondrej Novotny, the owner of the biggest domestic MMA organization Oktagon, also commented on the situation of Viktor Peshta. Novotny admitted that he was shocked by the information about Peshta’s fight in such a short period of time.
“I didn’t understand one thing, how is it possible that he joined two months after such a KO,” Novotny asked incomprehensively in his youtube podcast MMA Flight Around the World. “I was very surprised that he was even fighting,” he admitted.
Novotny explained that as a promoter of an organization, he has to think about the health of his fighters and often deals with situations like this. Like recently with Brazilian Apollo Silva, who reportedly wanted to fight again soon after a brutal KO at Octagon Underground.
“Dude, you got such an off switch from Mazuch that you shouldn’t have contact for three months,” Novotny responded to the Brazilian’s plea. The latter was supposed to send Novotny tests from a doctor that his brain was fine after the crushing blow, but the promoter remained adamant.
Novotny expressed concern for Pest’s career, but wishes him a speedy recovery
“Viktor got a hell of a KO in the first fight, in the second fight the first punch was like the final blow and it was just a matter of waiting for it to come,” he said, referring back to Pest’s loss. “That’s two shutdowns in two months that can put a damn damper on your career,” he added of his former employee.
“I’m very sad that he failed twice in a row in this way and I’m afraid the break will be even bigger now,” he expressed concern for Pest’s future. “From afar, we wish Viktor a speedy recovery and a stronger return,” he added.
