Here we go again. RFA is once again complaining about Oktagon, the biggest Czechoslovak MMA organization. The reason is again the same tournament date, but that’s not all. According to Boris Marhansky, RFA promoter, Oktagon is behaving like it did in the 90s.

It seems that the situation on the local MMA scene is not looking very idyllic. The RFA, a new organization that would like to surpass the Oktagon by the end of the year, hasn’t been able to make itself known very well. It’s not a shame, though.

However, they still have some issues to deal with. First of all, there was the overlapping dates of the two organizations’ tournaments. In September, both organizations were even supposed to do a tournament on the same day in the same city. In the end, this will not happen as the RFA has backed down.

But now, according to Boris Marhansky, the RFA’s promoter, the Octagon has started using practices that would fit more in the 1990s than 2022.

“I have experienced many things and unpleasant situations in my business life, but today it has taken on a completely different dimension. A few days ago, I received a call from the director of the hall in Košice, which we have booked since last September. He was contacted by Oktagon about a date in the hall. They said they don’t like that we have a date there,” Marhanský started his statement on Instagram.

“At first I smiled and thought to myself that after all we have a signed reservation, so they will probably put the tournament on another date. Then I found out about their date on October 15 in Germany. I thought to myself, classic, we still have this here, never mind. But today the director called me again to tell me that they are going to terminate our contract because they are under pressure, they are getting a lot of phone calls and internally they have decided to give priority to our competition so they don’t stand between two organisations,” he added.

Besides, the director of the hall in question has reportedly offered the RFA a free term for 2023. Marhansky said such a deal is beyond the pale. He said the RFA will work to be a 100% professional organisation and not be suspected of influencing matches or favouring fighters.

We’re still waiting for an official statement from the Košice STEEL Arena. Ondřej Novotný has already commented on the situation. According to MMA Shorties sources, things may be a little different.

Among other things, Marhansky revealed that the RFA will soon announce big collaborations and that Eastern Slovakia has a lot to look forward to, as it intends to bring a tournament like it has never been there before.
