It should have been one of the most exciting games of the tournament. Unfortunately, Matej Peňáz got injured and the boxing match with Alex Lohore will not take place. It is therefore likely that we will not see him in the Octagon for a long time.
When the Oktagon organization announced that Matej Peňáz was injured, a large part of the fans were sad. It was supposed to be his debut on the domestic scene. Peñáz has a chance to fight for a UFC contract and is generally expected to make it.
His fight with Alex Lohore had to be cancelled due to injury, and the organization was looking for a replacement, but couldn’t find one. The experienced Tomas Hron did come forward, but the weight difference between the two was too great.
But what actually happened to Peñaz and will he lose his chance to fight for the UFC? “As OKTAGON MMA announced, I had to withdraw from the fight due to a torn ligament in my wrist. Believe me, nobody is more sorry than me.
I’m currently recovering to be ready for the DWCS on Aug. 30, ” he told his fans via MMA Shorties. He has a visible bump on his hand that really makes it impossible for him to get into the fight.
However, the fact that he will be able to be ready for Dana White’s Contender Series tournament is certainly positive news. But Lohore doesn’t have to be sad either.
He will rest for a while, but another title shot awaits him in September when he fights for the middleweight belt for the second time, this time against Patrik Kinclo, who would then like to take on Karlos Vemola.
