Patrik Kincl is the new Oktagon middleweight champion since February. Now he knows not only the date of his first defense, but also his opponent who will want to take his belt.
There is a new king in the Octagon since February. It is Patrik Kincl, who managed to defeat Slovak Samuel Kristofich after a five-round battle on points in the sold-out O2 Arena. Now he knows the date of his defence and the name of his opponent.
There was a lot of talk that Karlos Vémola might try to fight for the title. There weren’t many other options. Zdeněk Polívka’s winning streak was ended by Alex Lohoré, who immediately after his victory asked for a title shot.
And he will get it. Lohoré will be Kinclova’s next opponent. It will be his second title fight in the Octagon. In the past, he also challenged for the middleweight championship belt against Vemola.
Lohoré, however, was no match for Vemola. The Terminator was the heavier and stronger fighter in the bout, checking out the entire fight on the ground, leaving the Frenchman with no chance, even though he made it all five rounds. Since then, however, Lohoré has learned his lesson, gained weight and will certainly not want to lose in a similar fashion again.
The title fight between Kincl and Lohoré will take place at OKTAGON 35, hosted by the Winning Group Arena in Brno on Saturday 17th September.
It will be a huge challenge for Kincl. Lohoré has been a champion of five world organizations in the past. He is now riding a streak of two wins in a row and his career record of 21::7 is definitely awe-inspiring.
