Oktagon published the project “Sport against bullying”
As we have already informed you, the leading Czechoslovak MMA organization Oktagon has announced a new project called “Sport against bullying” before the Oktagon 32 gala in Ostrava. The intention is based on the goal of helping Czech and Slovak children with a bad habit that plagues not only the education system, but also the whole society.
In cooperation with Rexona, Oktagon has launched a website where Czech and Slovak schools can register and leading Oktagon fighters will organize a discussion on bullying and violence in the schools. The main face of the project is the king of Oktagon David Kozma.
Oktagon fighters talked about their experiences with bullying
The organization recently posted a video on its youtube channel featuring Oktagon fighters, namely lightweight number seven Marek Bartl and two weight class champion Ivan Buchinger, speaking out on the company-wide topic.
Marek Bartl brought a fresh wind to the conversation and reminisced about the times when he himself was an aggressor and bullied others. “I was the one who bullied,” Bartl spoke openly about the problem. “I know that the beginning of the problem was my childhood, that is, what I experienced,” he outlined the reason for his role in the collective.
The reason he gave for his actions was that he did not come from a rich family and wanted to distract attention from himself. His parents could not afford to buy expensive shoes and clothes for their child and he saw this as a threat to his position in the group.
“I was looking for excuses to hurt or laugh at someone for something, so that the attention would be directed at him, ” he described the reasons for his actions. “I felt inferior and had little self-esteem,” he recounted in a candid confession.
He said he only realised the negative impact of the bullying later in life and pointed out that a visit to the gym, where his then coach and other fighters helped him change his thinking.
The biggest mistake is to remain silent
The perception of the group in which bullying takes place is very important and has a major influence on the development of an unpleasant situation in the life of the victim. This was confirmed by the champion Ivan Buchinger, who was in the role of a person who helped the bullied.
Both fighters agreed that it is important for the victim not to remain silent and to share their problem with an adult. Whether it is a coach in the gym, a teacher or a parent, the problem will not be solved if it is not talked about. Thank you to Oktagon for our kids!
