He was only sacked from Leeds last month due to poor results, but Marcelo Bielsa could soon be immersed in managerial life again. Bolivia are interested in him.
The Argentine coach will always have a place in the hearts of Leeds United fans as he led the club to their dream promotion to the Premier League after a 16-year hiatus.
In his first season amongst the elite, it turned out to be a respectable 9th place, but this year the club is struggling to stay up and in February, poor form saw Bielsa sacked.
The footballing public has since speculated where ‘Mad Bielsa’, as the Argentine is nicknamed, will now head.
According to the latest speculation, he could try national football again as Bolivia are interested in him. This has been confirmed by national team president Fernando Costa.
“I won’t deny that we are in contact. We haven’t arranged a meeting yet, but it’s coming,” Costa revealed to reporters.
Bolivia are certain to miss this year’s World Cup in Qatar after Friday’s 0-3 loss to Colombia, and a change of manager will be the response.
Bielsa will not be new to managing the national team, he was on the bench of Argentina between 1998 and 2004, with whom he won the 2004 Olympics, and he managed Chile between 2007 and 2011.
