Abramovich sells Chelsea London
Abramovich bought Chelsea in 2003 and has achieved many footballing successes with the club, including winning the millionaire Champions League last year. However, he has recently come under scrutiny for his links to the Russian government, which launched an invasion of Ukraine, prompting the Russian billionaire to sell the club.
“In the current situation I have decided to sell the club because I believe it is in the best interests of the club, the fans, the staff and also the club’s sponsors and partners,” Abramovich said in a statement on the club’s website.
Following his statement, media speculation began about who might succeed him as the club’s owner. Several big names in the world of business immediately put themselves forward as possible successors.

But now a very unexpected name has entered the picture. We can speculate that the interest is not real and this man just wants to draw a wave of attention to himself in a typical way. But MMA fighter Conor McGregor has come forward to potentially buy Chelsea.
The star Irishman announced on Wednesday night that he would be interested in buying one of the English Premier League’s biggest clubs. He shared a screenshot from his WhattsApp on his Twitter account, which says Chelsea is up for sale for £3 billion. “Let’s buy it,” the conversation reads.
The Irish warrior is widely known to share a great love for football. Although his favourite club is Manchester United, he could try to buy the London club as part of a consortium.
Conor McGregor was ranked by Forbes as the highest paid athlete in the world in 2021, however, his net worth is not believed to be close to the £3 billion asking price. But according to recent reports, Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss is a hot candidate to buy the club.
