Tomáš Souček shines with perfect English! But he didn’t get the award as West Ham face a non-football crisis
Tomas Soucek spoke to the club TV after the successful match against Watford. The Hammers’ midfielder showed excellent English and also incredible team character. The British public, however, is not too interested, because West Ham are facing an unprecedented crisis of a non-football nature.
Tomas Soucek spoke to the club TV after the successful match against Watford. The Hammers’ midfielder showed excellent English and also incredible team character. The British public, however, is not too interested, because West Ham are facing an unprecedented crisis of a non-football nature.
It was the Czech national captain who gave one of the best performances on the pitch in the last Premier League match. According to WhoScored, he was even the second best player of the match.
The Hammers beat Watford 1-0 under huge media pressure. The only goal was scored by fan favourite Jarrod Bowen. But the whole game was overshadowed by the recent Kurt Zouma cat scandal.
A video of Zouma was recently leaked on social media, where the West Ham defender was quite aggressive towards his pet and according to many it was a clear case of abuse.
Nevertheless, Tomas Soucek marched in front of the camera and spoke boldly, especially about the team. He also mentioned the fact that where West Ham are (in the table) is a credit to the whole team and not to any individual.
“We are not individualists. There are 20 of us in the squad and it’s terribly important we behave as a team and not as individuals. That’s why we are where we are.”
But Soucek’s words fell on deaf ears. West Ham, even with a strong Czech footprint, have faced unrelenting criticism, both from the British public and from some of their fans.
Below this tweet, there are almost exclusively comments regarding the Zouma case, as well as plenty of cat photos.
The club is facing pressure to get rid of Kurt Zouma just like Manchester United did with Mason Greenwood. Although the Hammers have fined Zouma and issued a statement distancing themselves from the French defender’s actions, but according to behind the scenes information, it looks like Zouma will also travel for the next Premier League game (against Leicester).
