Will Kamara leave for the Premier League to join Gerrard? Aston Villa interested in 26-year-old Finn
Glen Kamara needs no introduction to the Czech audience. But now the Finnish footballer can say goodbye to Rangers and go to England, where Aston Villa is interested.
Glen Kamara needs no introduction to the Czech audience. But now the Finnish footballer can say goodbye to Rangers and go to England, where Aston Villa is interested.
Kamara is a key player in Rangers FC’s midfield. He has been with the club since January 2019, and last year he helped the Ibrox Park outfit end Celtic’s nine-year reign and win the league title.
He also made it through to the Europa League eight-finals with Rangers, where they fell short to Slavia. And the whole game was so brutal with Kamara in the lead role that when he and Rangers arrived at rival Sparta’s stadium in the autumn with only children in attendance, the entire stadium booed him en masse.
But Kamara may not stay at the hated Glasgow club for long. According to reports in the English Daily Record, Aston Villa are strongly interested in the Finnish midfielder.
Kamara has reportedly been tracked for several transfer seasons, with the Birmingham outfit looking to make a £6 million bid in the summer, back under former coach Dean Smith.
Aston Villa sporting director Johan Lange is said to be a big Kamara fan, and the fact that Kamara has signed a new contract until 2025 doesn’t change that.
The transfer collapsed, only now the situation has changed. The Villains have engaged Steven Gerrard, who managed Kamara at Rangers, as head coach and is quite fond of him. So it is likely that if the club agreed, the 26-year-old midfielder would not reject the offer.
He already has some experience with English football, having played for Arsenal’s U21 and U23 sides. He also played League One and League Two for Southend and Colchester respectively.
