The English Premier League offered two surprises in the 11th round. Norwich won for the first time in the season at Brentford (2:1) and Burnley beat Chelsea (1:1) at Stamford Bridge. A big part of the points gain is also due to striker Matej Vydra, who scored the only goal for the Clarets.
While Burnley fans celebrated after the game, Blues supporters took to social media to vent their anger. Many of them, in a fit of frustration, wished their opponents relegation and didn’t exactly behave in the spirit of fair play.
It was Matej Vydra who was garnering well-deserved praise. He received congratulations from the national football team, and football expert Karel Häring also paid attention to his goal.
The Czech striker did not get on the pitch until the 70th minute. He replaced Icelandic international Jóhann Gudmundsson. And he scored 9 minutes later!
The prestigious site WhoScored gave Vydra the second best rating from Burnley. The highest-rated man in manager Dyche’s team was goalkeeper Nick Pope (7.2). Right behind him was the 29-year-old Choteboro native, who has waited 15 Premier League games for a goal.
Vydra was given a rating of 7.03, interestingly he only needed 7 touches of the ball to score. He also managed to produce one shot that went wide and won one header.
