David Moyes has commented on Tomas Soucek’s condition. How is he?

Tomáš Souček did not finish the weekend’s match against Everton (1: 0), in which he was hit in the face with a kick, which caused several stitches. According to West Ham coach David Moyes, the national midfielder is doing better.

The incident took place in the 79th minute. Salomón Rondón used his boot to scratch the face of Tomáš Souček, who left the pitch covered in blood.

“Tomáš is fine. But the stitches are certainly not pleasant,” Moyes commented on his player in an interview with the club’s website.

West Ham face their third Europa League group stage match on Thursday. Given that the London team has full points, fielding Soucek against Genk would be at least risky, if not unnecessary.

“Yes, he wants to play. It’s up to us whether we decide to let him rest or field him. But I don’t think his injury should be a reason for him not to play.”

Finally, the experienced coach joked, or more accurately, reminisced about his playing career. He played as a stopper for the famous Celtic Glasgow.

“I told Tomas to look at my eyebrows. It also took a lot of hits in my career as a central defender. He’s got alot more stitches to come before he gets to this level,” Moyes concluded.
