Manchester United will want to forget this day very quickly. With one of their biggest rivals Liverpool at their stadium, they were already down 0:4 at half-time, so all the Red Devils players were nervous. As well as Cristiano Ronaldo.
Naby Keita sent Liverpool into the lead in the 5th minute, Diogo Jota increased the lead in the 13th minute. Then came the Mohamed Salah show, who scored first in the 38th minute, the Egyptian goalscorer adjusted the half-time score to 4-0 in the fifth minute of the first half.
But Manchester United didn’t even have to finish the half at full strength. In the 45th minute, Ronaldo had a chance, but Alisson cleared his attempt. The Portuguese still tried to catch up, but Curtis Jones was there first.
Ronaldo fouled him and with Jones on the ground, Ronaldo kicked the ball which was still close to his body.
Many fans thought it should have been a red card. However, head referee Anthony Taylor only drew a yellow card from his pocket.
Salah completed his hat-trick in the second half, with Pogba marking an even blacker day for United. He came on at half-time but went into the showers early in the 60th minute for a slip on Keita. This time Taylor, with the help of VAR, had already pulled out the red card.
