West Ham, with Soucek and Coufal in the line-up, failed to beat Brenford
Brentford, a newcomer to the Premier League, has been showing some surprising results this season, beating London West Ham 2-1.
The home side came into the game with two Czechs in the starting line-up. As usual, Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal played from the start of the match. Alex Král, another West Ham Czech, was only on the bench.
West Ham had a very special and successful season last year, and this year they are not in a bad shape either, still near the positions to secure qualification for the European Cups. However, the Premier League newcomer from Brentford did not come to London to sell his skin for free.
It was the visitors who took the initial initiative of the match. Bryan Mbeumo was very active and hit the crossbar early in the game. Twenty minutes later, he was even more successful. The ball bounced to him and he sent it over the goal line. The Hammers also started to get chances later on, but the first half produced only one goal.
West Ham completely dominated the second half. However, it wasn’t until the 80th minute that it bore fruit. Jarrod Bowen scored the goal, assisted by Tomas Soucek’s header. It was level at 1-1.
It looked like the points were going to be shared. But it was the 94th minute of the match and the visiting Yoane Wissa cleared the ball into the home goal. It was the away team’s winning goal.
The home Hammers surprisingly dropped points and lost 1: 2. They can repair their reputation after the national break against Everton. Brentford moved up to seventh place in the Premier League with the win. They will be looking for another surprise result against Chelsea.
