The clash between the Czech Republic and Wales promised to be an interesting spectacle. According to the bookmakers, Jaroslav Šilhavy’s charges were the big favourites, but they did not fulfil this role either in terms of play or results.
Neither of the teams played with gloves on, especially the Ostrians played aggressively and came into the fights hard. Moreover, they were very good on the ball as well, they could be very dangerous even without Gareth Bale.
Then, when Aaron Ramsey split the net behind Tomáš Vaclík in the 36th minute, it was not a surprise given the course of the match. However, two minutes later Jakub Pesek equalised from a cross to make it 1-1.
The home side even took the lead in the second half with great luck when goalkeeper Danny Ward failed to handle a pass from Ramsey and made sure of his own goal.
The Welsh then got a healthy upset. They raced for an equaliser and got it in the 69th minute. Daniel James took advantage of a hole in the defence.
Overall in the second half, the island team was much more active and better than the Czech Republic, which was also agreed by the TV experts who after the match noted that Šilhavy’s charges can be really happy for the point.
The visitors created more chances in the match, but overall it was an attractive and combative match.
