Historical error? Juventus refused to sign Haaland for 2 million euros

Erling Haaland is one of the most valuable footballers on the planet. However, Juventus had the chance to sign him for just €2 million but didn’t take it. The former CEO of the Turin club still regrets it.
Somehow, it is generally assumed that when Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi end their careers, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé will take over their roles as two of the world’s superstars. But things could have been very different.
When Haaland was still at Molde, he could have moved to Juventus. But the Old Lady may have made one of the historic transfer mistakes.
“One of my biggest regrets is that we didn’t sign Haaland. I was the CEO of Juventus and we had the opportunity to sign him for €2 million from Molde,” former Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta told the Trento Sport Festival.
The Norwegian footballer eventually headed to Red Bull Salzburg, where he impressed with his performances and earned a transfer to Borussia Dortmund. Now almost all of Europe is queuing up to see him.
“It was close. Now it is impossible to see Haaland in Serie A – there is no chance for clubs from Italy to sign him in the summer,” Marotta regrets.
But even in Dortmund, Haaland may not stay long. At the end of the season his exit clause, which is set at 75 million euros, will be activated. Real Madrid, PSG, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Manchester City are interested.
For a footballer still only 21 years old, this is an excellent price. A small obstacle, however, is the fact who represents Haaland. His agent is none other than the greedy Mino Raiola. He had to tell both Barcelona and Real Madrid that he wanted €15 million for himself and €15 million for the footballer’s father for the transfer of Haaland. With thirty million more, the price already looks completely different.
