Referees in the Premier League have been ordered to let minor offences go unnoticed from the new season. This should make the game move faster and be more attractive to fans.
However, Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp does not like this regulation. He particularly dislikes the fact that the Premier League has completely resigned itself to protecting the health of the players with this regulation, and is calling for another change in the rules.
“Today we were able to test it and we saw that we have gone from protecting the health of the players to letting the game flow more,” Klopp said shortly after Saturday’s game.
“It’s a grey area that we have to adapt to again during the season. Trying to let the game flow at all costs doesn’t make much sense to me right now,” Klopp criticized the regulation.
However, Klopp calmed his emotions at the end. “The season is just beginning and I don’t want to stir up emotions. I just think we should talk about this change.”
Liverpool are enjoying a successful start to the new season. They have won their opening two games without conceding a goal. They beat Burnley 2-0 on Saturday.
