The fans threw a bottle at the player, he threw it back and a melee ensued. Watch the crazy scenes in France
Those who saw the Brno fan storming the pitch in Lišně on Sunday morning might have thought that this would never happen in Western Europe. A few hours later, however, something on a much larger scale took place in France.

In the third round of the French Ligue 1, OGC Nice welcomed Olympique Marseille. Instead of football, however, the talk after the game was about something else entirely. Sunday night turned into a complete madhouse.
In the 70th minute, Nice were 1-0 up and the visitors were about to make their final push. The star Dimitri Payet was about to take a corner kick when he was suddenly hit in the back of the head by a bottle thrown at him by a “fan” Nice.
Payet then got up and threw the bottle back into the fans. A huge melee ensued as Nice supporters stormed the pitch and attacked the Marseille players. The brawl between fans, organisers, players and members of the management team lasted several minutes before the match was abandoned by the main referee and the players went to the changing rooms to hide.
According to L’Equipe, three Marseille players suffered injuries, most notably Dimitri Payet, Luan Peres and Matteo Guendouzi.
After a few minutes, the referee gave the signal for the match to finish, but the Marseille players refused to play the remaining 15 minutes and the referee called the match off with a score of 3:0 for Nice. However, Marseille will appeal.
