Paris Saint-Germain defeated Olympique Marseille on Sunday night in a tense match of the 27th round of Ligue 1. They added three more points to the table and are determined to win the title. Despite the win and a clean sheet at the back, Kylian Mbappé did not shine with enthusiasm as he did not play the full 90 minutes.

A clean sheet at the back, two goals scored up front. The Parisians deservedly dominated Sunday’s Classico, beating Marseille 2-0, albeit after a rather tense first half.

The referee handed out four yellow cards to PSG players, with 20-year-old Brazilian defender Lucas Beraldo even receiving a red card. However, even with ten players, PSG managed to beat their opponents. Vitinha opened the scoring account in the 53rd minute, with Ousmane Dembélé among the assists.

Six minutes later, the Stade Velodrome erupted with excitement when Jordan Veretout headed the ball into the net to level the match at 1-1. However, the joy of the home players and their supporters did not last long as the referee disallowed the goal due to offside.

Mbappé substituted

In the 65th minute, something came up that pissed off the star Mbappé. The French international was playing his last Classico before his transfer to Real Madrid. However, PSG coach Luis Enrique pulled him out of the game at that very moment.

Mbappé, it must be added, left with his head hanging low. He didn’t even wait for the game to end. And after a few moments, he headed straight to the locker room.

The Paris Saint-Germain coach then simply stated in his post-match press conference that he always looks for the best solution for the team. In this case, it was the withdrawal of Mbappé, who was replaced on the pitch by Portuguese striker Goncalo Ramos.

Enrique added afterwards that he was tired of such questions. But the fact is that Mbappé has only made one appearance in his last seven Ligue 1 games since the contract non-renewal was announced, scoring a hat-trick in all 90 minutes at Montpellier.

But it is also because coach Enrique wants to gradually adapt his team to playing without him. What’s more, Mbappé got full minutes in the Coupe De France quarter-final clash against Nice. And he also played the full 90 minutes in the Champions League against Real Sociedad. Another fact is that key games for PSG with the season finale looming are yet to come…
