Competition for the Octagon? Apparently, a new MMA organization is about to be established in the Czech Republic. However, it will not be about the sporting aspect, it will be all about the show.
MMA is not only about sport. The show is also an important aspect, which of course sells the whole product much better than just the sport aspect. The proof is Conor McGregor, who has become a world star and taken the whole sport to another level.
Recently, all sorts of fights have started to take place in different parts of the world. YouTubers, influencers and more have started to infiltrate combat sports.
There were some bizarre fights where a 65kg woman fought a man who weighed 240kg, or three men against one. The possibilities are many.
However, it is in everyone’s interest to keep everything under control. In Poland, for example, the FAME organisation, which organises fights between Polish celebrities, takes care of this. And that it pulls! Millions of PPVs are sold.
And we could soon see something similar here. We have already seen the boxing match of rappers Rytmus vs. Marpo, MMA premiere of actor Jakub Štáfek, and a boxing match with star Gábor Boráros.
The long-delayed War of Youtubers, i.e. the fight Vláďa vs. Explo, is also going to take place under the cover of the Octagon. However, youtubers such as Trout and Beir have already faced each other in the cage.
The Trout vs. Beir fight has over 3 million views on YouTube. Celebrity fights are a big draw, but fans of the sport don’t like it too much.
Now Trout, in real life Petr Jelinek, even boasted an interesting offer on the Facebook group MMA Discussion. He said that he is starting an organization focused on fights between youtubers and influencers, which will not be about the sport aspect, but about the show and entertainment.
“This concept has been very successful in Poland and the US, and has huge potential in our market. The matches will be according to modified rules, the rounds will be shorter, the breaks longer. Apart from the increase in viewership, you will also come to a lot of interesting money,” the offer received by Trout further reads.
It was more or less only a matter of time before someone would be inspired abroad and take this type of business into full swing. Will this kind of entertainment become very popular in our country as well?
