Slovácko is out of the European Cups this season, because they lost on penalties to Lokomotiv Plovdiv. And it must be added that it was one of the worst penalty shootout performances in recent years from the point of view of the scorers.

Slovácko led from the 26th minute, when Vlastimil Daníček split the net with a technical shot from a volley. Jan Kalabiška could have added a second goal in the first half, but the goalkeeper defused his attempt.

In the second half, midfielder Lukáš Sadílek had two great chances, but in both of them he chose the wrong solution and the total score of 1:1 was followed by extra time.

Slovácko was better for most of the overtime and could have decided the game several times. Twenty-three shots were on target, while the opponent only six times, and Václav Jurečka failed to score in the overtime.

But since the Moravian team scored only once, it was time for penalty kicks. Vlastimil Daníček, who has been the designated penalty taker in Slovácko for the last few years, was the first enforcer.

However, he sent the ball just above the ground to the left post and goalkeeper Ilko Pirgov had no problem knocking it away. The stress was evident on Daníček, but he was not alone.

Daniel Holzer opened the second series. The left-footed all-rounder headed to the right post, only for his goalie to make the save. The ball again flew at the perfect height for the goalkeeper to knock it out of the three poles.

Michal Kohút produced a very similar shot. This time, the goalkeeper made a great save and with the visiting Connor Ruane scoring, Plovdiv led 2:0 with two kicks to go.

Václav Jurecka and Michal Kadlec converted their attempts, but in neither case was it a well taken penalty. In addition, Birsent Karagaren scored a shot to the left post to put his team ahead in the fifth match of the series.
