Lionel Messi was the first player in Copa América history to receive three individual awards after winning the final.
With four goals he was the top scorer, five assists made him the most prolific passer and he was also named the best player of the entire championship.
But Messi was also the best in the tournament in a number of other attributes. He scored the most goals from direct kicks (2), which has long been his domain, and in the last ten years he has clearly been the most productive in the world from them.
The holder of six Ballon d’Ors is not only a goal scorer but also a director. He has created the most chances of any player (26), has 22 key passes, and no one has more actions leading to goals (8).
Messi has traditionally been the best dribbler of all (36) and has been involved in an incredible 46 actions leading to a goal. Finally, he dominated the statistics of passes behind the defence to goal (4).
For the record, eight different players were the best in these ten milestones at the Euros. Moreover, Messi was always better than the person in question at the Euros, with only Ronaldo scoring one more goal as top scorer.
