England has heard the verdict for unsporting behaviour by its fans. They only received a small fine from UEFA!
UEFA has condemned the behaviour of English fans at Euro football matches. They were guilty of booing during the anthems of the opponents and in the last match against Denmark they also lasered the goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

The English Football Association has been punished for the unsporting behaviour of its fans. UEFA has fined it 26 thousand pounds, which is equivalent to just under 800 thousand crowns.
One of the reasons for the fine was the booing of English fans during the opponents’ anthems. These acts of unsporting behaviour were repeated in all the matches of Gareth Southgate’s team.
Another, and probably the main, cause was the fans’ behaviour during England’s semi-final clash with Denmark. This match has been highly controversial as it has produced more than one controversial situation.
In extra time, a penalty was whistled for England, which, to the astonishment of everyone, even English fans, was confirmed by the video referee. Another curiosity was the fact that during the alleged foul there were two balls on the pitch which the referee obviously saw, but still did not stop the game.
When Schmeichel was facing Harry Kane, one of the “Three Lions” fans started shining his laser in the face of the Danish goalkeeper. He was trying to distract him, dazzle him and help Kane score the winning goal.
Schmeichel still managed to grab the penalty, but he knocked the ball straight back to Kane, who made no mistake the second time.
One can only speculate whether he would have been able to completely neutralise the penalty if he hadn’t been blinded by the laser beam beforehand. What is certain, however, is that these things do not belong in football and teams should be punished for such behaviour by fans.
