Gosens as a hero didn’t ask Ronaldo for the jersey a second time. What did he say?
Robin Gosens had a hand in three of Germany’s goals in Saturday’s Euro showpiece. Once again, he managed to beat Cristiano Ronaldo, his role model who embarrassed him two years ago by not swapping jerseys with him. Did he try for the precious souvenir this time too?

That Cristiano Ronaldo is a big Gosens favorite came to light this spring. That’s when the German international confided that he asked the famous footballer for his jersey after the 3-0 cup win over Juventus, but he refused.
“I asked Cristiano for the jersey. He didn’t even look at me! And he just said no. I was very disappointed and ashamed, I walked away feeling very small.”
The story spread around the world, even his teammates once made fun of him on the subject. They brought a Juventus jersey into his cabin, saying that Ronaldo had sent it to him. Of course, it was an obvious replica.
Gosens met Ronaldo for the first time on Saturday in the national team scene. And he enjoyed it very much. With a goal and an assist (he also assisted on one of his own goals) he helped to a very important 4-2 win, he was even named the best player of the match.
“I didn’t ask him for the jersey this time because I wanted to enjoy the victory,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
The Germans (also thanks to the great Gosens) have the group situation in their hands. They are in second place and at the end of the group stage they will face the paper-weakest Hungary. Moreover, a draw is enough for them to advance from third place.
