Revolution at Crystal Palace. Radical reshuffle means a number of departures

Fourteenth place, forty-one goals scored and sixty-six goals received. That’s the card with which Crystal Palace ended the last Premier League season. The response to these disappointing results is now a radical rebuilding of the squad, which has brought with it a number of departures.

As far as the goalkeepers are concerned, there is both Stephen Henderson and his one year older colleague between the three poles, 34-year-old Wayne Hennessey on the way out. Neither have made a mark on the team this season and have only featured for the reserve team. Both goalkeepers are out of contract as of the end of June and will become free agents.

The defence will certainly change as well. Gary Cahill, Scott Dann, Patrick Van Aanholt, Nathaniel Clyne and Joel Ward will leave the team at the end of their contracts . A question mark also hangs over the injured Mamadou Sakho, the young Sam Woods and Martin Kelly, who has only managed 7 games for Crystal Palace this season, and like the others, his contract is also coming to an end.

Among the midfielders who may be looking for a new deal is James McCarthy, who has been limited by injury recently. The 30-year-old Glasgow native has managed 18 starts across all competitions this season.

Andros Townsend, 29, will also not continue at the club . He has defended the Blue and Red colours since 2016 and bids farewell to the team with a record of 185 games, 16 goals and 28 assists.
