Bojan Velickovic is a new addition to the Oktagon organization, where he will fight Emmanuel Dawa on June 19. However, the plans were different and the Serbian was supposed to face Poland’s Marcin Naruszczka for a fight with Karlos Vemola. However, his team refused to do that along with him. Why?

Bojan Velickovic is a Serbian wrestler who was one of the few to beat Jiri Prochazka, and he did so in 2012. However, he did not take the fight with Karlos Vemola.

“During the last tournament, I revealed that Velickovic originally took the fight with Narushko. I said sure, but that if he won, the other match would be Karlos. I don’t want to say he backed out, but he and his coaches said no, they’re going to go with 77,” said Ondrej Novotny on his MMA Flight Around the World podcast.

This begs the question, was Velickovic so afraid of Vemola that he preferred not to take the fight with the Polish fighter, or did he just want to fight in the welterweight division? Most likely something from each.

I took the fight with Naruszczka because I thought I had to fight him to get the OKTAGON contract, but together with the team we are planning a trip through the welterweight division. Then my manager explained that if I took the fight, then OKTAGON wanted me at welterweight, which I didn’t want,” said the Serb in an interview with MMA Shorties.

According to his words, he simply feels better in welterweight and benefits from his power and speed. In particular, his power wouldn’t be as noticeable in the higher weight class, as he’s 86-87 pounds at the time of the fight. The likes of Vemola is 10 kilos more in the same category.

However, he did not rule out a future fight with one of the most famous athletes in our country. “I have a fight with Dawa in less than two weeks, so I’m fully focused on that. If I beat him, then we can talk about fights with Kozma, Vemola or anyone else,” Velickovic finished.
