OKTAGON 41 is here. In the main event, champion Jonas Magard and interim title holder Gustavo Lopez will face off in Liberec. Both fighters have their own qualities, their measure of strength is highly anticipated. How will the fight turn out and what to bet on?
The first Oktagon tournament in Liberec will offer several attractive battles. Fans can also look forward to the return of Karlos Vemola. However, the main match will feature two champions, although one of them is only provisional.
The bettors are also on Lopez’s side, as 74% of them believe in him and over 540,000 crowns are bet on him, while not even 200,000 crowns are bet on Magarde yet.
Magard knows very well that he won’t have it easy. That’s why he tried to get into Lopez’s head with his trash talk, which was often too strong. Along with that, however, the Danish fighter put a lot of pressure on himself.
Lopez has had tougher fights, he has faced big names in the UFC, he trains in the same gym as UFC champion Brandon Moreno or Aljamain Sterling. His role as the favorite is logical at least from that perspective.
And it’s no different in wrestling skills. Lopez should be better than Magard in all aspects. The Dane will have a chance especially in the stance, but on the ground he has a weakness and the skilful Lopez can exploit it quite easily.
How great Lopez is on the ground could be retold by Filip Macek. He ran over the Czech fighter in no time, while Magard and Macek were unable to end the Czech’s fight prematurely despite the Czech’s poor performance.
One can expect that the fight will not end on points. The probability is really small. If you want to take a risk, it can definitely pay to bet on Lopez to win on a submission at odds of 2.80.
Otherwise, though, Lopez is a deserved favorite and should pull the longer end of the rope in the fight.
