Kincl on Vémol: He expected that beating a hobby fighter who came for a paycheck would be a much easier affair

Patrik Kincl will fight Karlos Vemola for the middleweight championship belt in a month. His opponent proved himself in Liberec, where he defeated Al Matavao in the first round. How did Kincl evaluate the tournament and what did he say about his rival?

After many months Karlos Vémola returned to the cage. How else but victorious, after all, he got one of the weakest opponents of his career in terms of numbers.

Vémola won the first round, however, Al Matavao got hit several times in the stand-up and without Terminator quickly taking him down, we could be looking at an interesting fight with a possibly surprising result.

But those are just ifs and Vémola scored another win for his stats. He now has a welterweight title fight with Patrik Kinclo on May 20.

It was Kincl who evaluated on his social media the past tournament in Liberec, in which we could see a large number of surprises and the bettors probably didn’t make much money.

However, he also leaned on his soca Vemola, as he traditionally does. This time, however, he has already admitted that he believes the match in the O2 Arena will finally happen.

“Liberec behind us. Once again it was confirmed that a card from which not much is expected can surprise. For example, I wouldn’t have dreamed of taking on Strzelczyk against Montagnac. I don’t have the controversy on the points for the Fošum vs. Hajdarpašič match completely resolved.

After the third round I thought there was room for 10-8. But these are exactly the kind of fights that cry out for a rule change. Boxing’s scoring system just doesn’t always work in MMA. Then it can look like every judge is scoring a different fight.

The easiest change for me is posting points by round. Sure, it stinks by turning the last round into a tactical clinch, but then again there may be an active referee in the octagon. What about the Octagon? Oh, and of course I have an inbox full of questions about the co-main event.

Personally, I expected beating a hobby fighter who came for a payday to be a much easier affair. That’s not a knock on Matavao, that’s a fact. The dude has a job that feeds him, so this is a hobby. Plus, he wasn’t far from a surprise..

I take a couple of things away from this. The most important is that no mystery injury has cropped up and we can head to the O2 Arena. We’ve also seen enough mistakes to build on now.

A lot of them will be fixed in the month, but there will be a few left at the O2. However, a warm-up game like this has to bring more doubt than calm to the next preparation. But that’s not my problem anymore,” he wrote on his social networks.
