A rematch with Vemola? It’s not a question for me, says Végh. He says he’s already started training, he admires the Terminator

Time is flying by. It doesn’t even seem like it’s been more than three years since Attila Végh sent Karlos Vemola down in the Fight of the Century, arguably the most important fight in the history of the Czechoslovak MMA scene.
While Végh hasn’t appeared in an MMA fight since then and has moved primarily into a coaching role with the occasional boxing exhibition, Vémola is constantly pushing for a rematch and keeps taking one fight after another.
The Terminator can’t and won’t accept losing. And so it’s clear that there will be a rematch one day. The question is when. Not too long ago, there was public talk about the end of 2023.
“As I’ve said a billion times, it’s not a question for me. I am open to retaliation. I’ve started training, but as far as Carlito is concerned, I don’t want to talk too much about it. He had health problems, but he got himself together right away and I saw that they already announced the fight and the rematch with Kinclo, so Karlíto is bulletproof. He has a lot of admiration in my eyes,” Végh let it be known to Svet MMA.
The Slovakian legend sees that Vémola has a clear goal and is downright set on making the rematch happen. Otherwise, he says he won’t rest easy. And that the rematch hasn’t been arranged yet? They say it’s the same triangle over and over again.
“I said I wouldn’t go into an MMA fight with anybody else. I don’t need to deal with the record. I’ve done 44 fights, I don’t need to do 45. Only Karlos has any relevance to me as far as the business is concerned. You can make it a big thing, a big event, so it’s appealing to me,” Végh said.
Outside of that, though, the former Bellator champion would love to fight at the Fight Night Challenge gala, where he’s already been featured. He wants to break out somewhere, and he sees the local shows as the easier option.
Because when Végh trains, he wants to have a specific goal. And that, he says, is a boxing match. But can it be a rematch with Vémolá? That remains to be seen.
