A fighter in Dana White’s ‘slapping’ league made sports history as the first fighter to be suspended for being found with banned substances.

Dany White’s new organization, Power Slap, has suffered from much controversy since its announcement.

Leaving aside the endless debates about the effects of strikes on the central nervous system of a man who uses virtually no defense, even the UFC promoter himself has backed up his emotional outburst with haters of the new discipline.

At the turn of the year, he was caught on camera slapping his notoriously drunk wife at a New Year’s Eve party in Mexico. This, of course, caused a huge media uproar. The first tournament was postponed for a week to calm things down.

The first gala, however, brought more controversy as many fighters did not seem to be in their right minds after hitting their opponents. This, of course, once again sparked a discussion about the dangers of the sport.

To give White’s organization credibility, the fighters are overseen by the Nevada State Athletic Commission to check for any banned substances in the body and to protect the health of the fighters. And already, the organization’s first fighter has found himself in the crosshairs of that commission.

Jon Kennedy, competing in the organization’s welterweight division, Power Slap, has been suspended by the commission for nine months. The reason was a positive test for cocaine. In addition to not appearing in a fight for almost a year, Kennedy must also pay a fine.

During the hearing, the Nevada Athletic Commission also approved minor rule changes for Power Slap. ” Whether you like it or not, the sport seems to have found its fans, ” commission chairman Anthony Marnell said , according to MMA Fighting.

“But it’s a dangerous fight where the other guy can’t defend himself, so I think it needs some regulation,” he added.
