West Ham have contacted PSG about the possible signing of Alphonso Areola. The French goalkeeper was a guest at Fulham last season and left a good impression despite the London club’s relegation.
Paris Saint-Germain are expected to be strengthened by Italian number one Gianluigi Donnarumma after the Euros. This is something that West Ham want to take advantage of, as they want to bring Alphonse Areola back to the Premier League.
The French goalkeeper was a guest last season at Craven Cottage, where he was one of the few to produce quality performances. Fulham were eventually relegated.
The Hammers would like to take Areola on loan initially with the option of a permanent transfer. According to Transfermarkt, the price of the Frenchman is 17 million euros.
The 28-year-old goalkeeper has two years left on his contract in Paris. He was only the number one here in the 2017/2018 season. He lost the position after the arrival of Keylor Navas from Real Madrid.
Lukasz Fabianski, who is already 36 years old, could have a new competitor. Apart from the Polish goalkeeper, West Ham also own David Martin and Darren Randolph, who are just a bit younger. Petr Cech, for example, finished his career at the age of 37.
The Hammers management could raise funds for a transfer by selling Felipe Anderson. According to the media, he is headed back to Lazio Roma after three years in London.
