Will Usyk vs. Fury be a title unification fight? It’s already in the works, with a specific date looming, says the manager. Fans don’t believe him

Oleksandr Usyk defeated Daniel Dubois over the weekend, and once again there is talk that a title unification battle could be on the cards. The last time the duel was addressed, it all came down to Tyson Fury. How will it be now?
A great performance, but one big controversy leaves a stain on it. Oleksandr Usyk stopped Daniel Dubois after a sovereign ride in the ninth round, only to get hit with a punch in the fifth round that sent him down himself.
The judges ruled Dubois’ grenade as a low blow, but Dubois, his manager Frank Warren and the English fans disagreed. Experts are also arguing, but slowly they are beginning to agree that it was indeed a below-the-belt hit.
Warren is pushing for a “no contest” re-evaluation and ideally a rematch. Beyond that, though, he’s already talking about a battle to unify the world titles for the first time since 1999.
Usyk vs. Tyson Fury? The fight has been on the table several times this year. While the Ukrainian agreed to all the new and often nonsensical advances by the English star, Fury never had enough and ultimately didn’t agree to the fight.
In between, he took various jabs at Usyk on social media and in interviews. He also criticised his last performance against Dubois. However, he himself is facing a somewhat easier fight against former UFC champion Francis Ngannou, who is a big underdog.
Warren says he’s working on getting Fury and Usyk to fight early next year. A potential rematch between Usyk and Dubois shouldn’t get in the way of that. It was originally thought that the winner of the Usyk vs. Dubois duel would be the one to challenge Fury.
“Daniel Dubois should have three belts around his waist now, but if we can secure a rematch, he can do it. Oleksandr Usyk, however, has our huge respect, he was phenomenal at cruiserweight and is great at heavyweight too, but he was already complaining about the low blows against Anthony Joshua,” the Daily Mail quotes Warren as saying.
In addition, journalist Michael Benson has come forward to say that the IBF is expected to order Usyk to defend his titles against Filip Hrgovic.
