Cristiano Ronaldo recently decided to take legal action against his former employer, Juventus Turin. The reason for this is said to be unpaid wages from the coronavirus pandemic, and a final decision is expected soon in this lawsuit.

The trusted Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport has previously reported that Cristiano Ronaldo has decided to take legal action against Juventus Turin.

The now 38-year-old striker is demanding to be paid a net sum of €19.9 million. It is this money that the club reportedly promised the Portuguese legend when it agreed to defer payments in the early months of the coronavirus pandemic.

It should be noted these deferred wages are part of Juventus’ now infamous “salary manoeuvres”, which are the subject of another ongoing lawsuit.

Ronaldo had already requested the relevant documents from the Turin prosecutor’s office less than a month ago. On Wednesday 4 October, a hearing was held at the FIGC arbitration committee, but no agreement was reached between the two sides.

Indeed, the Turin outfit is sure of its position and believes that the Portuguese star has no right to demand payment, as no contracts have been signed.

La Gazzetta dello Sport also reports that other players who were involved in Juventus’ salary manoeuvres in this sense and signed such contracts have received their payments as expected.

Then, Football Italia also reports that when Ronaldo left Juventus for Manchester United in the summer of 2021, he reportedly signed an agreement with the club in which he waived all outstanding debts.

A final decision on the matter is expected to be made within the next 30 days.
