Chelsea has a new owner and so various things are still being sorted out regarding the management of the club. The award-winning director Marina Granovskaia has already had to leave the London club, and now the future of Petr Cech is in question.

If a new era, then with everything? It is not impossible that this will be the case at Chelsea. Indeed, after Roman Abramovich handed the club over to Todd Boehly, there has been something of a restructuring.

For example, Marina Granovskaia, who was voted the best ever sporting director in European football in 2021, has left the club. For the time being, the only certainty for the continuation is the coach Thomas Tuchel, whom Boehly wants to keep at all costs.

The same cannot be said for Petr Čech. The former outstanding goalkeeper is currently fulfilling the role of executive and technical advisor, being one of the central figures for transfer matters.

Goal reports that Cech himself is to consider his position. He had an above-standard relationship with Abramovich and there is no guarantee that this will be the case with the new American owner. Everything will probably depend on the mutual talks that are on the agenda.

Boehly has fitted into the role of club chairman, besides being interim sporting director. He is trying to sort out the staffing in the boardroom as quickly as possible so that Chelsea can compete with other clubs in the transfer market.

The future of Petr Cech will then also be decided based on how his future role can be defined. The fact is that under Abramovich’s ownership, Chelsea has functioned somewhat atypically.

The already former director Granovskaia, for example, was able to handle transfers without having a regular sporting director in charge of such matters at the club. She only took advice from scouts and Petr Cech in particular. Under the new owner, this will no longer be possible.
