Will Liverpool follow the same path as Chelsea? The club is considering hiring the Brighton coach
Liverpool are not exactly shining this season. They have lost three of their last five games, most recently at home to Real Madrid, who turned around a two-goal deficit to win 5-2. It is no wonder that the club’s management is figuring out what will happen in the summer. A change of coach is also in the cards.

It was expected that this season Liverpool will fight for trophies on all fronts. After all, last season they reached the Champions League final, where they fell short to Real Madrid, and finished only a point behind Manchester City in the league.
But the situation is not rosy at all. The Reds are only 8th in the league, the fight for the title is out of the question, the Champions League is the only thing on the table. In the millionaire’s competition, they are in danger of being knocked out in the first knockout stage after Real Madrid won the first leg 5-2. And at Anfield.
Liverpool are no longer in the other competitions. The team is not playing well at all. Of course there are bright spots, but there is talk in England that changes need to be made. Big ones. If the club is to make a change for the better.
One of the changes being talked about is a change of coach. That has been Jürgen Klopp since 2015 and he has been successful so far. But this season, he too has been toothless and in a way, desperate. He may be under contract at the club until 2026, but that may not play a role.
According to La Repubblica, Liverpool are already looking at other options. And quite possibly follow in the footsteps of Chelsea London, as the club’s management likes the current Brighton coach. That is, Italian strategist Roberto de Zerbi.
De Zerbi has built fantastically on the work of Graham Potter and thanks to him Brighton are seventh in the league, even ahead of Liverpool and could be fighting for Europe. No wonder there is interest in him.
The former Sassuolo coach has a very positive relationship with Liverpool and it is expected that he would not refuse a possible offer. He is supposed to be the first option in case Klopp leaves.
However, other names are also in play. Coaches like Zinedine Zidane and Mauricio Pochettino are without a commitment. De Zerbi, however, will not cost the Reds much. He has a release clause of €13 million in his contract at Brighton.
