Will Lautaro Martinez sign a new contract at Inter? According to his agent, it is very realistic. Based on recent reports, the Argentine forward has turned down several offers over the summer and is only focusing on Inter.
Lautaro Martinez transferred to Inter Milan in July 2018, from Argentine Racing Club. The Italian outfit shelled out €25 million for him at the time, and it is now clear that it has paid off for Inter several times over.
The 26-year-old international is already curling his sixth season at the San Siro, after which he won the championship title and dominated the Coppa Italia twice in the blue and black jersey. During that time, Lautaro has appeared in 245 competitive matches, in which he has scored 108 goals and added 38 assists.
The Bahía Blanca native is currently considering a contract extension, although his current deal runs until the end of June 2026.
However, he had several offers during the summer transfer window. Manchester United, for example, showed serious interest, while Lautaro could also potentially go to Saudi Arabia. However, he did not choose any of them.
So Inter understandably want to secure their star with better terms and, like in 2021, a long-term contract.
Will Martínez extend his stay at Inter?
So what are the chances that Lautaro will nod to the new offer? His agent Alejandro Camano confirms that the Inter Milan striker is very close to a contract extension. He is said to be delighted that the Italian giant has appointed him as its new captain.
“Lautaro doesn’t want to hear about anything else but Inter. Saudi Arabia is a market full of attractions and he has had offers not only from there. But when I tell him about these opportunities, he tells me ‘Inter Ale, Inter’, ” Camano explained in an interview with TVPlay, whose words are also quoted by Calciomercato.
“The sense of belonging is important and he has it here in abundance. To the team, to the project, to the players, Lautaro doesn’t hear of anything but Inter. I think a contract extension is real and close,” Martínez’s agent added.
