João Félix, a talented Portuguese footballer, only joined Chelsea on loan in January, but there is talk of him staying at the English club for another season. In an interview ahead of the eighth-final match against Dortmund, he hinted that the Champions League could be the deciding factor.
João Félix is one of Chelsea’s many January reinforcements. He first came on for the game against Fulham on 12 January and didn’t help the team much as he saw a red card in the 57th minute.
However, after returning from the penalty, he showed on the pitch that he can be a very valid player for the English big club. He even scored a goal against West Ham when he helped them to a 1-1 draw.
” Chelsea is a team that likes to attack, keep the ball, dominate the game. That’s the game I want to play. I feel very free on the pitch, the way I like it.”
At Monday’s press conference ahead of an important Champions League eight-final match against Dortmund, in which Chelsea will have to make up a one-goal deficit, there was also talk of potentially staying in the team.
“Nobody knows how it will be. Right now, I’m only focusing on the game against Dortmund. After that, we don’t know what will happen. But I’m happy here. The club is huge, it’s amazing. Everyone behind the team is great.”
Still, he realises the Champions League is very prestigious and added: ” Playing this competition is always something different, everyone wants to be in it. Playing in the Champions League is definitely an important decision. But nobody knows what the future will be like, we’ll see.”
One thing is for sure, on Tuesday the team that will advance to the next round of football’s most famous competition will be decided and Félix believes his team is capable of making it through to the next round.
