Jaromír Jágr has been the majority owner of the Kladno Knights since 2011. When he took over the club, he had clear goals and plans. He wanted to return the Central Bohemian club to its former glory. But it can’t be said that he succeeded.
The team has spent several seasons in the first league since then, and hasn’t appeared in the playoffs since 2014.
More and more the hockey public is saying that Jaromir Jagr is trampling on his legendary legacy. In fact, some of his statements do not help. Knights fans are beginning to wish in a big way that he would leave the ownership structure of the club.
When he recently headed to Pittsburgh, where the Penguins there retired his No. 68 jersey, he again reminded fans of his greatness. Still, it didn’t convince Kladno fans, at least, that he should continue to lead the club. That must make the latest speculation all the more pleasing. For the legend is in demand overseas.
Will Jaromir Jagr return to the NHL?
What’s next? It is quite possible that we will see Kladno in a lower league next season, quite possible that the most productive European in the history of the NHL will no longer be a player, maybe not even an owner of the Knights.
American journalist Josh Yohe of The Athletic revealed that the NHL is interested in the star: “The Penguins want Jaromir Jagr to join the organization’s management.”
“I’m not sure what role they would like to see him in, but they want to get the most out of him,” added Yohe, who incidentally noted that the more Jaromir Jagr is involved in the organization, the happier Pittsburgh will be.
Moreover, the Czech hockey legend spent a lot of time with Penguins president and general manager Kyle Dubas during his visit to Pittsburgh, who was able to find out if the 68-year-old is interested in joining the organization.
“I don ‘t want to get ahead of myself. I have a certain responsibility in Kladno. Once I’ve sorted everything out here, I can start moving in a different direction.”
