Spurs scoring more goals without Kane?
It was expected to be a disastrous season, after all Harry Kane – the symbol of previous successful seasons – has left. Experts expected Spurs to fall apart and not score goals, but after two rounds they are on four points with a valuable scalp of Manchester United.
At home against the Red Devils Tottenham survived the initial pressure, on the contrary, they used their good passage and then controlled the game. In the second half Manchester didn’t stutter and even the 2-2 draw with Brentford from the first round is not a shame.
James Maddison made a great catch, Yves Bissouma looks good after a miserable last season and Guglielmo Vicario, the reinforcement, shines between the three poles. All this under the baton of offensive coach Ange Postecoglo. Four goals in two rounds only confirms his goal scoring coaching past.
You can’t make a team out of talent
Chelsea entered the season on the opposite foot. One point from the games against Liverpool and West Ham is not enough, although in terms of performance The Blues were not downright bad. But in both games they paid the price for the inexperience of their young squad.
The offense is restless in the end, the defense is unplayable – that’s what the spectator took away from the London derby. You can’t be caught out twice in the first ten minutes by a centre from a corner in the same place.
Levi Colwill was at fault for the second goal, the only experienced leaders in the line-up being Thiago Silva with Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling. Yet again, speculation is only about young guns like Florian Balaguna.
Dyche doesn’t have it in him
Last year, Sean Dyche confirmed he is the master at saving teams, but this year he needs to make a full season with his defensive style of play. And that will be difficult indeed with a poor quality defence.
If Conor Coady hadn’t left, I’d have more faith, but this way Dyche can’t lean on his stoppers, which is a problem with his style of play. The 0:5 scoreline from the games against Fulham and Aston Villa marks the discomfort that has been felt from the Liverpool side for the third year running.
