What a great turn of phrase! Slovácko surprises and takes away three key points from France. In a difficult group, they can still fight for promotion
Great! Slovácko played in Nice on Thursday evening, where they were the clear outsiders. A point loss would more or less mean minimal chances of advancing from the Europa Conference group. However, we got a great surprise and the Moravians got three points.
Great! Slovácko played in Nice on Thursday evening, where they were the clear outsiders. A point loss would more or less mean minimal chances of advancing from the Europa Conference group. However, we got a great surprise and the Moravians got three points.
That’s how it would go! Slovácko were clear outsiders, after three games they were also the worst team of their group in the Conference Europa League, but now everything is different.
After the last home defeat to Nice (0::1), the Moravian team played on the ground of the French club and although they did not start well, they made a sensational turnaround.
Already in the 14th minute, Sofiane Diop sent Nice into the lead, but overall the first half was rather one-sided in favour of the home team. However, the second half brought a more even show.
Coach Martin Svedik made three changes during the break and they helped Slovácko to perform better. In the 75th minute, Michal Tomič equalised at 1:1.
What definitely helped the Moravians was the sending off of Jean-Clair Todib in the 85th minute. Two minutes later Petr Reinberk turned the score to 2:1 in Slovácko’s favour.
If Slovácko had lost, it could have been all over. But instead, Group D is a mess. Partizan Belgrade is surprisingly in the lead with eight points.
Nice is second with five points, Cologne third and Slovácko fourth with the same five points. In the next match, the team from Uherské Hradiště will face Kolín and can still play for promotion.
