We push Gábor and we will push him as long as he breathes, says Oktagon promoter Ondřej Novotný
Many Octagon fans have accused the organization of pushing certain fighters even though they no longer have a track record. One of them is Gábor Boráros. What does promoter Ondrej Novotny have to say about him?
Many Oktagon fans have accused the organization of pushing certain fighters even though they no longer have a track record. One of them is Gábor Boráros. What does promoter Ondrej Novotny have to say about him?
Haters criticize special treatment of Boráros by the Octagon
The biggest domestic MMA organization Oktagon entertains the viewers of the OKTAGON TV platform with a documentary series about the life and career of Gábor Boráros. The documentary, titled “I was the first”, has of course been subjected to considerable criticism by fans due to the fact that the star fighter has already missed the train.
This is evidenced by his recent performances in the cage. After losing his title fight to David Kozma, where he injured his knee in the second round, things are going downhill for the fighter. Of his last six fights, he has lost four of them and many have already broken his stick.
But Ondrej Novotny sees it differently
Still, he is getting special treatment from the Octagon, which is stirring the emotions of many fans. Oktagon promoter Ondřej Novotný explained the organization’s reasons for such treatment.
“Gábor was one of the most wanted persons for the fight in Europe and I would say even beyond Europe, and that’s more or less true,” Novotny said about the fighter in the documentary “Bol som pirm”. “All of us who are close to him know what he could have been and how every day is partly a very missed opportunity,” he said of the fighter’s wasted talent.
“When you say Gábor Boráros in the MMA world, everybody knows who he is,” the charismatic promoter described. “It’s very strange, a lot of people don’t believe it, but more and more people want to fight him because his performances are often not very good lately,” he said.
We are pushing Gábor and we will push him, says promoter
“Of course we push Gábor and we will always push him,” he explained the special treatment of the fighter. “Because some things are not forgotten and some people will always be interesting,” he added.
“If Conor McGregor picks up ten losses in a row, and I know some will say that’s a far-fetched comparison, but I don’t care, you’re not going to care about his eleventh fight,” he asked in a comparison to the famous UFC legend. “We ‘ll be interested in Gabor as long as he’s breathing,” he concluded firmly.
